aligning with your goals
We begin by working closely with you to determine what the strategic teaching and learning goals are for your network. We then anchor to these throughout the program, keeping your new teachers focused and aligned on improving in these specific areas, and also holistically as engaged and effective educators.
Your selected new teachers begin with a one day workshop that focuses on designing engaging learning within a variety of pedagogical frameworks, using rich questioning techniques to immediately support their experience in the classroom. Returning to the second workshop a few months later, the focus is on differentiation, formative assessment, feedback and metacognition. When they regroup for Workshop Three with a wealth of action-based insights (including from their mentors) the new teachers upskill in classroom management. In Workshop Four, we build capacity in instructional collaboration; both leading it in the classroom and as active members of a collegial staff.
coaching + support
Pivotal to the program is the pairing of new teachers with experienced educator mentors from their schools. Prior to the program beginning, mentors engage in a workshop day with EC to build their capacity as mentors during and beyond this program. In between new teacher workshops, the mentors help their mentees experiment and implement their newly learned techniques. Throughout the program, both the new teachers and their mentors have access to unlimited support from EC.
the outcomes of the program
The New Teacher Program is a rigorous and evidence-based learning experience that has been run since 2015. Across 141 EC programs, 5672 educators in Australia, the United States and Europe have led data-driven learning improvements for their schools. For the New Teacher Program participants are equipped to monitor their own outcomes, in partnership with their school-based mentor.
